Kathryn Leah Payne is an innovator and a perfectionist who has spent years mastering her craft. Known for her intricate and highly original leather work, she first established her eponymous label in 2002. After 3 years success selling nationwide the Christchurch Polytechnic graduate and Davines Southern Designer 2002 Supreme Award Winner headed to the UK. Payne established herself in London and worked for the iconic design house Caroline Charles and later for BolongaroTrevor, founders and former designers of the UK brand All Saints. After returning to New Zealand invigorated and inspired, she re-established her label, Kathryn Leah Payne, now in its second season and began quietly creating ripples across the South Island.
A forward thinker who is as equally inspired by vintage clothing as she is by contemporary design, art and architecture, Payne blends these diverse influences in a timeless, elegant and sophisticated manner. Her craftsmanship and precision tailoring translates into visionary collections. Each design embodies femininity whilst maintaining a gritty, sexy and intelligent edge. The emphasis of every collection is to create beautifully fitted garments and accessories that flatter the body and intrigue the eye.
